
Dr. Melissia Brannen
Associate Dean of Students for Community Engagement
Biography
Dr. Melissia Brannen is the Associate Dean of Students for Community Engagement and the Principal Designated School Official for the Student and Exchange Visitor Information System (SEVIS) program compliance at Columbia College. As part of the Division of Student Affairs, Melissia plays a pivotal role in fostering a vibrant and inclusive campus community by overseeing various aspects of student involvement, leadership development, and campus programming. She takes great pride in advocating for students and enjoys sharing opportunities that build capacity for acceptance and belonging in higher education communities. This is made possible by working with the Campus Recreation, the College Chaplain, Spiritual Life & Community Service, Multicultural Affairs & Community Resources, International Student Support, Student Activities, and many campus and community partners.
Following the recent completion of a doctorate in Professional Leadership, Melissia looks forward to implementing lessons learned from her research on best practices for inclusive campuses within U.S. institutions of higher education. She strives to create collaborative opportunities for students to engage with one another, the College, and the broader community, enhancing the overall collegiate experience.
