Columbia College’s Wellness in Action initiative brought the community together for an inspiring two-day event dedicated to health, service, and empowerment. Led by the Dr. John Zubizarreta Honors Program as a part of the Nobel Partners in Peace initiative, and First Lady Victoria Dozier, this collaborative effort united the entire campus and surrounding community for a shared, meaningful cause.
The event kicked off with engaging health programming for local K-12 schools, featuring exercise sessions, food demonstrations, and wellness tips aimed at creating health ambassadors on each campus. High school students were also engaged in a powerful panel discussion with local leaders, focusing on diabetes awareness and health disparities in the 29203 community.
The momentum continued with a community 5K race, followed by a wellness discussion led by local non-profit leaders and healthcare providers. Attendees enjoyed wellness demonstrations, healthy food samples, art and sound therapy, a live band performance, and a lively recycled clothing vendor fair hosted by Thrift Street.
A heartfelt thank you to everyone who participated, supported, and contributed to making this event a success. Special thanks to our partners—Prisma Health, Pepsi, Sodexo, Piggly Wiggly, Thrift Street, and the many organizations that helped make these two days truly unforgettable.
