As the Southeast grapples with the aftermath of Hurricane Helene, we take this moment to express how much each of you—students, faculty, staff, families, and alumni—means to us. Our hearts go out to those still without power and access to basic necessities and to those who have lost homes, businesses, and livelihoods. The devastation this storm has caused is unimaginable, and we are committed to supporting you in the days and weeks ahead.
We want to recognize the incredible resilience shown by our community during this difficult time. We are especially grateful to the utility workers who restored power to our campus and to our dedicated staff, who have worked tirelessly to ensure that events like the Campus Tour of Arts and our athletics programs continue as planned. This has allowed us to resume normal operations quickly and provide a sense of stability for our students.
We are also mindful that many of our friends and families connected to the College have been affected far more severely than what we experienced on campus. Below, we’ve provided a list of resources – both on-campus and virtual – that are available in this time of need.
- The Columbia College Counseling & Case Management team offers free counseling and case management services to full-time CC students to address various personal concerns. To schedule an appointment, click here.
- The Koala Boutique and Pantry provide valuable resources for students on campus. The Koala Boutique (Student Union B101) is a free store for all students in need of clothing and household goods. The Pantry, located in Harrelson 205, offers free food and hygiene products to students in need.
- SC Emergency Management Division Recovery Efforts
- SC Department of Public Health
- Disaster Assistance
- FEMA
Please take care of yourselves and each other. Our thoughts are with you as we navigate the challenges ahead.
