Hurricane Helene Update (9/29):
Columbia College will resume normal operations on Monday, September 30, at 8:30 a.m. Campus offices will be open, and classes will resume. Employees should contact their respective supervisors directly if alternate work arrangements are needed due to ongoing community impacts from Hurricane Helene.

Hurricane Helene Update (9/27):
With the safety of our students, faculty, and staff in mind, we are postponing the events for Family & Friends Weekend (the BBQ Lunch & First Family Meet & Greet) until a later date. We will let you know once they have been rescheduled. Any potential changes to the athletics events currently scheduled for tomorrow will be announced later today. Please stay tuned to Columbia College Athletics for information regarding those events, and please stay safe!
Hurricane Helene Update (9/26):
Columbia College continues to closely monitor and prepare for Hurricane Helene. Current projections indicate a high likelihood of heavy rain with flooding, wind, and dangerous driving conditions.
Because the safety of our students, faculty, and staff remains our highest priority, all offices of the College will close at 2:00 PM on Thursday, September 26, and will also be closed on Friday, September 27. All classes scheduled after 2:00 PM on Thursday (9/26) will move to e-learning. Faculty are encouraged to provide learning experiences via Canvas, and students should check their Canvas courses for further details. All classes scheduled on Friday (9/27) are canceled, and the activities planned for Friday evening as a part of Family & Friends Weekend have been canceled/postponed.
Here are some important updates to this weekend’s planned activities:
- Please note that Friday night’s Workshop Theatre performance of “The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee” in Cottingham Theatre will continue as planned. Ticket holders will be notified by Workshop Theatre if conditions warrant any further news regarding that decision.
- The First Family Meet & Greet at Maxwell House will be moved to Saturday (9/28), from 5:00 PM – 6:30 PM at 1320 Columbia College Drive, Columbia, SC, 29203.
- Saturday’s Family & Friends activities will proceed, including Saturday afternoon’s athletic events on campus and Saturday night’s Workshop performance.
- Dining services will continue to be available for on-campus students with adjusted hours. The Terrace Café will close at 5:00 PM on Thursday and be closed all day Friday. The dining hall will close Thursday at 7:00 PM. On Friday (9/27), brunch will be served from 11:00 AM – 1:00 PM, and dinner will be served from 5:00 PM – 6:30 PM in the dining hall. The dining hall will resume normal operating hours on Saturday, 9/28.
- Edens Library Learning Commons will re-open on Saturday, 9/28, at 10:00 AM.
Only essential workers, including those in Student Affairs, Columbia College Police Department, and Facilities, should report for normal operating hours this afternoon and tomorrow. Essential workers will be contacted separately by their respective supervisors.
All campus offices are currently scheduled to resume normal operation on Monday, September 30, at 8:30 AM.
