Wellness In Action Festival
Columbia College is thrilled to invite you to our Wellness In Action Festival! This event will inspire our community to prioritize health and wellness as we work together to combat the leading health challenge impacting the 29203 area.
Beyond our campus, we are committed to making a meaningful impact in the surrounding community. Through the Columbia College Health & Wellness Ambassadors, our students lead initiatives that educate and inspire K-12 students in the 29203 community, which faces significant health disparities. By promoting healthy habits, mental wellness, and overall well-being, we empower the next generation with knowledge and tools for lifelong success.
April 4: Student Health Ambassador Experience
- On Friday, our college health ambassadors will collaborate with students from nearby elementary, middle, and high schools to develop health ambassadors for their own schools in the community. These students will learn valuable wellness strategies and bring them back to educate their peers. During their visit to Columbia College, they will:
- Learn how to prevent diabetes through exercise sessions with our athletic coaches and students.
- Participate in healthy food demonstrations led by our chefs.
- Take a campus tour and explore career opportunities in health-related fields.
April 5: 5k Walk/Run/Roll + School Challenge and Vendor Market
- Start Time: 8:30 AM – 10:00 AM, 1320 Columbia College Dr.
- Saturday’s main event is our 5K Walk, Run & Roll, and we’re launching a special School Participation Contest! The school with the highest number of participants will receive:
- Free tickets to our April 15th softball game against CIU.
- Principal’s first pitch at the game.
- Recognition during halftime, where your school will be presented with an award.
- Explore a vibrant market filled with local vendors offering healthy products, repurposed clothes, wellness services, and delicious, nutritious treats. Participate in family-friendly activities, discover practical tips for healthy living, and enjoy a day dedicated to wellness. Best of all, proceeds from this event will benefit health and wellness education initiatives at Columbia College.
