Computer and Information Science (B.S.)

The Computer and Information Science curriculum provides students with the theory, analysis, design and implementation of processes that manipulate and transform information. Major courses include:

  • Objected-oriented programming (1 yr),
  • Hardware and software issues,
  • Systems analysis and design,
  • Database management,
  • Networking, and
  • Choices from web design and other applications
  • An internship or senior project

In addition students take courses in mathematics and business.

Bachelor of Art degree

Most students in the Evening College pursue the BA degree. This degree is most appropriate for students who plan to pursue careers in information technology in business, or industry such as database management, web development, networking or other jobs.

Bachelor of Science degree

Students with the appropriate mathematics and science background may pursue the  BS degree. Note that some required mathematics and science courses for the BS degree are not offered in the Evening College and  students need to transfer the required credits from another institution.     Students who are planning to attend graduate school might consider pursuing a BS degree.

CIS Minor

Students with majors other than CIS may choose to minor in CIS. Requirements are Computer and Information Science 110 and 111, and 12 additional hours chosen from Computer and Information Science courses numbered 200 and higher. Mathematics 150 may count toward those 12 hours.
