About
Cultivate What Matters Most
We empower you to share your talents, give back to others, and meet challenges with confidence. True to our Methodist roots, we care about matters of social justice, diversity, and inclusiveness. These values have underpinned the way we care, direct, and teach our students for nearly 170 years.
Our founding motto in 1854 was "non quem sed quid," not who but what.
In other words, your intellect, integrity, and faith matter most, and we're committed to cultivating those qualities in you. Your growth is our priority.

Commitment to Students
Known for our rich 169-year teaching legacy, we simultaneously serve our own students while finding innovative ways to meet unmet needs in our schools. Our APEC program helps adults get their teacher certifications and Call Me MiSTER trains and supports black male teachers.
Resilience Curriculum
We've been at the forefront of trauma-informed practices education, which helps us understand trauma, isolation, and poverty so we can build resilience and find success. We've developed a master's program, community training programs, and more to see this life-changing work through.
