Compare Higher Education Programs

How does an M. Ed. in Higher Education differ from institution to institution?

Some master’s programs in higher education offer a micro view and focus on one narrow area within the College or University setting, and some programs offer a macro view with a more global perspective of all areas within the College or University setting.

Columbia College takes the second approach with our three semester, one year, M. Ed. in Higher Education. All of the departments at an institution of higher education must function together seamlessly to create a good student experience on the non-academic side. Our approach is based on the premise that the more you know about all departments across the institution, the more effective you will be as an administrator. You will gain an understanding of the duties, responsibilities, and challenges that are faced in all departments and with a strong foundation in place will be able to work more effectively in a truly collaborative way.
