We look forward to welcoming you to campus during one of the three days of our S.O.A.R. (Summer Orientation and Registration) program. S.O.A.R. is critical for your success as a new student and prepares you for your exciting college journey ahead. During S.O.A.R., you will be on your way to becoming an official Columbia College student by registering for classes, learning about campus housing and getting your college ID and campus mailbox information!

S.O.A.R. Checklist

Complete the following steps to be prepared for your S.O.A.R. experience.

Step 1: Register for S.O.A.R.

Register for your preferred S.O.A.R. date: June 15, June 16, or July 21. Registering for S.O.A.R. is done through Koala Connection (KC) found at kc.columbiasc.edu. You will need to enter your student ID# and password to login found on the S.O.A.R. newsletter. If you misplaced your letter or need other technical assistance, call the Information and Technology Help Desk (803)786-3007 (Monday through Friday, 9:00am – 5:00pm) for your ID#.

Once you are logged in to KC, go to the Orientation tab found at the top of the page to complete your registration.

* In order to be scheduled for your preferred date, you must complete both the registration process and the necessary placement tests by Monday, May 15, 2017. *

Step 2: Complete Required Placement Tests

Proper placement in Mathematics and Foreign Language is important to your academic success. All students are required to take both the Mathematics and Foreign Language placement tests available online through Koala Connection using the same log in information used to register.  These tests must be completed before students can register for classes. Priority scheduling for Orientation will be given to students who complete both tests by Monday, May 15, 2017.

You may take your placement test at any time. Please test your login information during Help Desk hours (Monday through Friday from 9:00am to 5:00pm) to be sure you can access your placement tests at the time you plan to complete them. Call 803-786-3007 for assistance.

Required Tests:
  • A 3-part Math Placement Test (80 minute test)
  • A 4-part Foreign Language Placement Test (50 to 60 minute test)

Step 3: Complete your book voucher form

You will find this form under the Orientation tab on KC, kc.columbiasc.edu.

Step 4: Print out and complete the immunization form.

All students entering Columbia College must present a valid immuniation certificate (dated, signed, or stamped by a health care professional or office). Use the document provided to keep on record at Columbia College. Immunizations are kept on file with the Division of Student Affairs. It is recommended that you bring this with you to S.O.A.R. to turn in if you are able, however it is due by Fall Orienation in August.
