Welcome to Columbia College Counseling Services
Students encounter a variety of personal, social, and academic issues that may call for assistance beyond advice provided by friends and family. Counseling Services offers confidential counseling to all currently enrolled full-time students in the Women’s College at no additional cost.
Counseling can assist in achieving personal and educational goals and provide an opportunity to have a professional counselor listen empathically, help clarify ideas and concerns toward resolving new or long-standing problem situation(s), as well as provide useful learning and self-management skills, and improve relationships.
What is Counseling?
Counseling is an interactive and confidential process that offers you a safe place to talk about things in your life that are of importance to you with an objective, trained professional. Counseling is an opportunity to learn more about yourself, learn how to make healthier decisions, figure out what your goals are, and gain the confidence and life skills to achieve them.
Counseling may also involve services that are more clinically focused such as the diagnosis and treatment of mental illness. Other clinical services include psychological evaluation, coordination with or referral for a medication assessment, or referral for other specialized services.
