For decades Columbia College has been transforming the lives of women and preparing them for very successful futures by working with them one-on-one to provide coaching, professional development, leadership training and internship experiences.
The Institute for Leadership & Professional Excellence touches every Columbia College student. We combine a liberal arts education with leadership skills and real-world experiences to build successful, fulfilling futures. Focusing on personal and career-oriented growth that’s anchored in service and leadership development, we connect students with unique preparation opportunities that will elevate them as future professionals.
The Institute delivers a comprehensive four-year program integrating high school-to-college and college-to-career advising and instruction. Students work one-on-one with professional career coaches and academic advisors, are mentored by successful and energetic alumnae and community leaders, participate in multiple internship experiences, and are trained in personal leadership.
Each student also builds an academic and career portfolio cataloging her growth and experiences while at Columbia College. Reflection and telling the story of one’s life is an important foundation for future success.
The Institute is comprised of five centers:
Coordinates advising teams for each student to help her identify personal and professional goals and then work to fulfill those goals. This center also houses the CLIMB Mentoring Program, The Office of Disability Services and Student Success Leaders.
A hub for all experiential activities (internships, job shadowing, service learning, and research) coordinating activities between students, faculty and the business community.
A full service career center, offering initial career guidance, sophisticated career coaching, and comprehensive professional development to students throughout their four years at Columbia College.
