First-Year Scholarships

Institutional Grant
Up to $4000

*An Institutional Grant is available to students based on the student profile. In addition, scholarships are available upon nomination (see McNair/Momentum Scholarship application/nomination).

State and federal aid as well as other scholarships may increase one’s financial aid award. For example, many South Carolina residents qualify for the $4,700 Life Scholarship with a Life Book Voucher at $300(current funding levels).

Any student seeking federal, state, and institutional financial aid in the form of scholarships, grants, work-study and/or loans must complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) atwww.fafsa.ed.gov.

Columbia College grants/scholarships will be limited to no more than the difference between tuition, room and board, books and the total of all other aid (state, federal and outside scholarships). Scholarship amounts will be adjusted if total aid awarded exceeds the amount needed to cover tuition, room, board, and fees for residents or tuition and fees for commuters. Full tuition grants cannot be used in conjunction with any other institutional scholarship or grant. It covers the cost of tuition after all other aid has been applied. All Columbia College Grants are applicable to tuition charges only. Outside scholarships are applied toward need.
