Professor of Economics and International Business
Born in Egypt, Dr. El Shazly attended school in Cairo and received both a B.A and an M.A. in Economics from the American University in Cairo. After moving to Columbia, SC she earned a Ph.D. at the University of South Carolina in Economics with a minor in International Business.
Dr. El Shazly teaches courses in Economics, International Business, International Negotiation, Money and Banking and International Finance at both the graduate and undergraduate levels. She serves as a faculty member at Columbia College and as a visiting professor at a number of institutions such as: Lethbridge University in Alberta, Canada, Huron University in London, American University in D.C. and the University of South Carolina.
Dr. El Shazly’s research interests are in the areas of International finance and trade.

Most recently, Hadia Ghandour has been involved in Angel investing with several Angel groups in Columbia, across the United States and overseas including Capital Angels, WOMENA, Pipeline Angels and 37 Angels. She also serves as a mentor and/or judge for several entrepreneurship competitions and incubators including the USC incubator and MIT Arab Entrepreneurship Forum. Prior to that Hadia founded and ran several non-profit groups raising awareness on culture, human rights and civil rights in the Middle East.
Her background is in project management and IT consulting. Having worked on hardware/software efficiency for Digital Equipment Corp, building large systems for several multinational firms in manufacturing, logistics, healthcare, government and banking, having worked on the development and implementation of the Information Engineering Methodology while at Texas Instruments.
Hadia has an MBA from the Darla Moore School of Business, USC and a BSc honors in Chemistry with Computer Science from Southampton University (UK).
She teaches courses in Entrepreneurship, Global Business Interprise, Principles of Marketing and Global Marketing.

Yuan Li, Ph.D.
Dr. Yuan Li is an Associate Professor of Business and the Business Program Coordinator. He received his B.S. and M.S. in Business Administration from the Northeastern University, China and his Ph.D. in Management Information Systems from the University of South Carolina. Dr. Li teaches business management courses such as Principles of Management, Business Strategy, and also Information Systems courses such as Computer Applications in Business, Electronic Commerce, and Accounting Information Systems. His research primarily focuses on knowledge management and online information privacy. His research was published in the Journal of the Association for Information Systems, European Journal of Information Systems, Decision Support Systems, Electronic Commerce Research and Applications, Communication of the Association for Information Systems, and the Journal of Organizational and End User Computing.

Susan received her Masters of Accountancy degree from the University of South Carolina and her B.S. in Accounting from Southern Adventist University. Susan taught many years as an Adjunct Professor before becoming a full time Lecturer of Accounting in 2008. Susan teaches principle accounting courses, Cost Accounting, and Taxation. Susan is a CPA and has worked with the CPA firm Ernst and Young, a private oil company, and a state agency in Oklahoma.
Susan has two sons and enjoys traveling with her family in Africa and Europe.
