Columbia College is consistently ranked among the best Regional Universities in the South by U.S. News and World Report. Based on academic quality and price, CC was also named a 2016 Best Value Institution.

The Koalas athletic program are back-to-back winners of the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) Champions of Character Competition.

Columbia College is home to the 2010-11 Carnegie/CASE U.S. Professor of the Year as well as three National Honors Students of the Year since 2003. The College is the first South Carolina college or university to earn these national awards. The Honors Program is among the most prestigious and nationally visible in the country. Honors students are invited to elite academic conferences annually. The College has been ranked as one of the top comprehensive undergraduate colleges in the South.

The College is also among those institutions recognized for a commitment to service and is a member of the national President’s Higher Education Community Service Honor Roll. Columbia College was chosen as one of five schools across the nation to receive the 2012 Washington Center and New York Life Foundation Higher Education Civic Engagement Award.
 
Columbia College Police Department received national recognition with the Exemplary School Safety Award from the School Safety Advocacy Council. Columbia College was one of only three colleges in the country to receive this recognition.
 
The College holds two prestigious Theodore M. Hesburgh Certificates of Excellence for “innovative faculty development enhancing undergraduate learning.”
