Dr. Laurie B. Hopkins joined Columbia College in 1984 as a professor of mathematics and served as department chair from 1992-1998. She was appointed provost in 1998 and currently serves as provost and vice president of academic affairs. A native of Columbia, Hopkins received her undergraduate and graduate degrees from the University of South Carolina.
The Provost is the chief academic officer of Columbia College. She oversees the divisions and programs of the College and is charged with overall leadership of student affairs, library and information technology, the registrar’s office, the Center for Engaged Learning and all academic divisions.
